Sonic Generations PS3 Reviews

Sonic Generations is the 2D/3D platformer game for PS3, X360, and PC, which developed by Sonic Team, and published by SEGA. I've already reviewed the 3DS version since last year and it's still a decent platformer game, so if you haven't seen my 3DS version review then go check it out on this link below before I start reviewing the console version:

Okay, lets do the review right now. The story begins in past, Classic Sonic began to exploring the green hill zone, before the time eater appears to erasing the whole area. Meanwhile in the present, Modern Sonic celebrates his birthdays with his friends, before the time eater came to destroy his party and suck everyone into the time portal. Modern Sonic is now stuck in the white spaces until he meets Classic Sonic is here to help him to save his timeline from preventing changes the past times. The console version has 9 stages, 4 bosses and 7 chaos emeralds to collect for the single player mode. You get to play as ether classic Sonic and Modern Sonic. The classic Sonic levels is on 2D perspective, and it's plays just like the classic Sonic games on Genesis era, while the Modern Sonic levels is very similar with previous game, like Sonic Colors and Unleashed with fixing some major issues from the past, which keeps the modern Sonic levels becoming playable as possible for 3D Sonic game.
The gameplay is far even better than was before. The control of the main character feels very responsive for both classics and modern Sonics. Classic Sonic have ability to use spindash, which is used for quick speed and attacking enemies, but you can also jump on the enemies, while Modern Sonic have ability to use boost speed, which allow Sonic to run faster through the stages, but you can perform turning by holding the drift button as well, and you can use sidestep to avoid objects. You can also attack enemies by using homing jump attack, and of course you can do stunt tricks, while you on the air.
You can purchase the skills from the Omochao shop, which allow your character to have better skills for gameplay purposes.
I finding the stages very playful because it's worth challenging and way fun to play with, especially the boss levels.
I say the challenging mode is pretty fun as well, and I'm finding the tasks very enjoyable, which makes Sonic Generations so awesome for modern gaming.
The graphics looks amazing with very good environment of backgrounds, and textures. The level stages looks very good, the characters models are well detailed, and the whole animation feels more smooth with great visuals effects is doing fantastic job on the game.
The Music and sounds has the great musics from the older Sonic games, but you can also use custom MP3 musics as well, which sounds pretty good idea for Sonic games. The sound effects has decent background noise and has some of the atmosphere sounds. The voice acting is okay, but not the best so far in my opinion, but still this game has good musics and sounds on the game.
The Special Features has lot of unlockable stuff, like artwork, musics, characters bios, and of course you can unlock and play original 1991 game "Sonic The Hedgehog", which sounds very cool to have one. I like the features choices.

Advantages

Awesome gameplay

Amazing graphics

Very good stages from previous Sonic games

Playing as two Sonics

Unlockable original 1991 Sonic game

Decent storyplot

Disadvantages

20 second load times

Some annoying characters, like Amy, Charmy, and Omochao.

Battle rival can be bit frustrating.

Final Verdict

Bottom line...

Gameplay 8/10 - Good character's controls, very playable stages and great challenge mode.

Graphics 8/10 - Amazing stages layout, great animation and visuals, and good looking character models.

Music and sounds 7/10 - Great musics from older Sonic games, decent sound effects and some okay voice acting.

Special Features 8/10 - It has lot of unlockable stuff, like artwork, musics, characters bios, and unlockable original 1991 Sonic game.

Overall 8/10 - Sonic Generations for console version is by far the most improved Sonic games of all time, just like the Sonic Colors for Wii. This game won't disappoint to real gamers out there is because how awesome this Sonic game is? It offers more better gameplay to experience with great stages, very challenging boss fights, and being fast paced platformer game is what makes best modern Sonic games so far.
If you're the fan of kickass SEGA mascot himself, then this game is definitely must buy for console version.
