The House of the Dead: Overkill Extended Cut PS3 Review

I've remember playing the original House of the Dead for SEGA Saturn are actually the most classy shoot em ups game in 90's. All you do is to shoot the crap of the zombies, reloading the gun, save the hostages, and carry on moving on to next level what really makes the game so fun to play. I also like the sequel called House of the dead 2 for SEGA Dreamcast and House of the dead 3 for Original Xbox, which I've already got these games for the Wii version as House of the Dead 2+3 Returns is still enjoyable arcade shoot em ups games in 2000's. Then I decided to get this game for PS3 is because this is got to be my first PS3 game that uses the motion controller called the Playstation Move for light gun gameplay. Okay lets move on to review right now.

The House of the Dead: Overkill is the arcade shoot em ups, developed by Headstrong Games and published by SEGA was originally released for Wii in 2009, while PS3 was released in 2011 in which includes the extended cut edition. It is the spin off game, which is quite different from the original main series with different styles of plot, characters development, intense cutscenes, and more like the Quentin Tarantino's movie feel in the game what makes the game quite interesting.
The extended cut offers the redone High Definition graphics with 3D compatibility, two exclusive levels with new enemies and boss levels, additional bonus features, new weapons and director's cut mode.
The story takes place in 1991, Agent G is given his mission and sent to small town in Louisiana to take down the crime lord called Papa Caesar. He get to team up with Detective Issac Washington who is out to avenge his father's death.
I say the story has really amazing presentation with great cutscenes, decent dialogue, gruesome themes, and of course the characters in the games are funny as hell with tons of f-bombs makes the game so entertaining and laughable to watch.
The gameplay plays really good for PS3 version by using the PS Move accessory. It feels much balance and easy to play is because the targeting controls has more reflexes movements and the shooting feels nice and steady, but sometimes the targeting crosshair may be little bit off topic, but pressing the select button on the side of the PS Move can reset the crosshair positions are quite useful during the gameplay. The weapons are quite awesome is because you have the choices of weapons like pistol, shotgun, sub-machine guns, chaingun, and hand cannon, but you can upgrade it on shop options to improve the weapons abilities. This game has the amazing challenges with loads of insane zombies to attack you and it has really cool boss levels are far enjoyable to play with. I say the gameplay plays pretty good is because the PS Move feels responsive and accurate for the light gun games.
The graphics are looking fantastic on PS3 version is because it's improving the better animation, great visuals, uses the HD graphics overall with 3D mode and of course the bloody graphical content with tons of blood and gore makes the game even look hardcore and badass.
The music and sound has 90's movie style music and has great sound effects with some background noise, ambient sounds, loud gun pow effects, and has some sound atmosphere. The voice acting are pretty sounds pretty good on the characters with fitted voice, cool dialogue and of course the zombies has hilariously good grunting voice.
The special feature has unlockable stuff, 2 brand new chapters with 2 new playable characters and new enemies and bosses, mini games, director's cut mode, and additional bonus features.

Advantages

Amazing story and presentation

Really good gameplay

Fantastic graphics

Funny characters

Extra features

Disadvantages

Sometimes the crosshair may be little bit off-topic

You can't able to skip the cutscene, if you have already seen the part of the cutscenes

Final Verdict

Here is my bottom line.

Gameplay 7.7/10 - Good controls, excellent weapons with upgrade options, and worth challenging levels with great boss fights.

Graphics 8.5/10 - Better animation, nice visuals, and loads of gory effects.

Music and sound 8/10 - Catchy 90's movie style music, superb sound effects and awesome voice acting for characters.

Special Features 9/10 - It has unlockable stuff, 2 brand new chapters with 2 new playable characters and new enemies and bosses, mini games, director's cut mode, and additional bonus features.

Overall 8/10 - The House of the Dead: Overkill Extended Cut is the fantastic edition for PS3 version. Headstrong Games did a marvelous job on game's overall presentation with amazing storyplot, funny characters, and it feels more like of the Tarantino's movie style makes the game atmosphere even sounds good. I love the gameplay overall that offers a great motion controls to keep the light gun games feel balanced and playable with excellent weapons choices and epic boss fights. Extended Cut offers an extra features in the game are definitely worth recommended for PS3 owners who got into the arcade shoot em ups games like this. If you have the console like Wii, but didn't own PS3 should definitely try the Wii version of this game is because it's very enjoyable and most entertaining game.

Hard Corps: Uprising PS3 Digital Download Review

History of Contra Series:-

In 1987, Konami brought the classic arcade game called Contra is the Run N Gun shooter for the Arcade machines, and then one year later, it was later ported to NES console is due to success of the arcade version. Contra for NES is well known for unique levels, challenging difficulty, colorful graphics, and ironic gameplay with excellent weapon's power-ups and having 2-player co-op what makes the game so memorable on NES version considered to be one of the best Run N Gun game of 80's that becomes Run N Gun legacy.
The game had becoming popular among with fans and gamers, the sequel for NES called Super C was released in 1988, which still retains the side scrolling format, along with vertically view perspective in some level. It receives still positive review from the critics by saying it's a good game sequel with great boss fights, and has more action what makes this game still worth to play on NES.
In 1992, there are another sequel for SNES called Contra 3: The Alien Wars, which has more variety of gameplay by having new weapons with upgrades, top-down perspective for some levels, complex level design, and more intense action than the previous game makes the game look amazing on the SNES system. Two years later, Contra: Hard Corps for SEGA Genesis was came out in 1994, so it offers 4 new characters, 6-button controls allowing the character have options to shoot while walking or standing still and weapon selection, high-tech graphics, and kick-ass techno soundtrack. It is the great Run N Gun shooter for SEGA Genesis owner to enjoy the atmosphere of the hardcore shooter style. In between 1996 and 1998, they bringing the game called Contra: Legacy of War and Contra Adventure for PS1 and Saturn, which features the 3D  perspective gameplay, isometric graphics, and different storyplot, which is different from the previous game for PS1 and Saturn. It receives poorly review from the critics citing the 2D gameplay were absent from the previous game, criticizing clunky controls, scrappy looking graphics, and being washed out compared to previous game making the worst on the series.
In 2002, Konami yet to bring another game called Contra: Shattered Solder for PS2, which brings back the 2D sidescroller, better controls, and brand new weapons. However, the game gets much decent reviews from critics citing the game have been improved over the previous game for PS1, and it deserves much credit that Konami have made the wise decision by having the classic 2D sidescroller makes the game look better than was before.
In 2007, Konami brought Contra 4 for DS, which brings the classic root to the original 1987 NES classics. The game receives far even great reviews from critics citing it is the best Run N Gun shooter up to date for DS.
In 2011, Hard Corps: Uprising was released for PSN, and XBLA. It features anime graphics style, more variety of gameplay, 2-player co-op on local or online, 3 downloadable chararcters, and unlockable level select. It receive good reviews from the critics citing the game is quite decent, but not just good as the original 1994 SEGA Genesis game, but still fun to play are recommended for the fans of Run N Gun shooters.

Hard Corps: Uprising PS3 Digital Download Review:-

Hard Corps: Uprising is the Run N Gun game for PS3 and X360, which developed by Arc System Works, and published by Konami. It is the prequel of the Contra: Hard Corps for SEGA Genesis as well the original Contra for NES.
This game had some potential that the developers did a wonderful job on the whole game will pleased the fans of Contra series are looking forward to play this hardcore sidescrolling madness with amazing gameplay, fluid anime graphics, upgradeable weapons and abilities, well challenged levels, and even more fast paced action makes this game so awesome and enjoyable to play.
You get to play as the 2 of the characters like Bahamut and Krystal has the mission to take down the death squad from taking over the world.
You can also play as the 3 of the characters like Harley Daniels, Sayuri, and Leviathan, which are available on PSN and XBLA store as DLC characters.
The gameplay has similar control as the Contra: Shattered Solder, which allows player to shoot in different direction while standing still and strafe is to keep player in same side-position while shooting. You can deflect the bullet by pressing the action button to avoid getting hit by the enemies.
Character can able to sprint by holding the dash button or tapping forward twice, but you can perform dash in mid air and double jump by pressing the jump button twice, which seems works very well for character movements.
The weapons are pretty well done in the game. You have the choice of the weapons like super machine gun can shoot automatically while holding the shoot button. Spread shot can shoot with between 3 or 6 bullets, Crash gun that shoots with grenades, ripple gun can shoot with wave on near distance and it is also act as the forcefield when sprinting, Heat gun can shoot flames in larger blast of fire, and chain laser can shoot around the enemies, but the characters can hold 2 weapons so you have an option to change weapons as well. Each of the weapons in the whole game works pretty good in the game. In rising mode, you can upgrade your weapons from customization shop, which allowing to improve accuracy and range of weapons, characters abilities can able to perform better dash moves, triple jump, and more character's action skills, and gaining more health and lives to make game easier for Rising mode.
I say the gameplay stages are far fun to play because it has so many enemies in the levels, so many hazards to avoid getting killed, and the boss fight is definitely worth challenging as well. I find the rising mode is quite too easy to beat, but if you want to go for higher challenge then try the arcade mode for harder difficulty makes the game impossible to beat, but it's still fun to play.
The graphics are much like from the Arc System Works's game like Guilty Gear and Blazblue series by having artistic anime style with fluid character, greater details on level stages with nice backgrounds and texture, and having decent animation looks pretty good on intro cutscenes.
I say it's a very unique art style for graphics makes the game look amazing by having a stunning animation so far.
The music and sounds has really awesome Heavy Metal soundtrack by the video game composer Daisuke Ishiwatari, which he did for the game like Guilty Gear and Blazblue what really makes the music on this game sounds really awesome. The sound effects are pretty decent for sound atmosphere, and background noise are perfect for sound systems, but I say the voice acting sounds really mediocre for most of the enemies has the annoying dying voice when shot down by the protagonist.
The special features offers the unlockable stuff like having 30 lives from customization shop, and stage 1 remix from original Contra by using the Konami codes. You can download 3 characters from the PSN and XBLA Store to unlock them as the playable characters. It has trophy support and online score ranking.

Advantages

Brilliant gameplay

Variety of levels

Upgradeable weapons and abilites

Intense boss levels

Fluid graphics

Awesome soundtrack

Disadvantages

Poor voice acting

Customization shop can be expensive to unlock all items

Sometimes the game can be bit frustrating to beat game

Final Verdict

Is it the best Run N Gun game for modern consoles? Here is my final verdict.

Gameplay 8.5/10 - Brilliant gameplay, variety of levels, upgradeable weapons and abilites, and intense boss levels.

Graphics 8.5/10 - Artistic anime style with fluid character, greater details on level stages with nice backgrounds and texture, and having decent animation.

Music and sounds 8/10 - Awesome soundtrack and decent sound effects, but has poor voice acting for most of the enemies.

Special Features 8/10 - Unlockable 30 lives, plays stage 1 music remix from original Contra,  DLC characters, trophy support and online score ranking.

Overall 8.5/10 - I say it is the best Run N Gun on the modern console, but it's not just good as the original contra for NES and Contra: Hard Corps for SEGA Genesis, but this game deserves putting the effort of the game itself. I love the weapons upgrades, precised controls, putting more action in the gameplay atmosphere with lots more enemies and bosses, amazing soundtrack, and very stylistic graphics makes the game entertaining.
If you're the hardcore fan of the Run N Gun shooters then this game is for you to enjoy it, so you can download it from the PSN and XBLA store.

Top 5 Survival Horror Games

It's going to be Halloween soon in 31st of October, so I'm going to discuss about the Survival Horror in gaming.
As you know Survival Horror are becoming the well known genres for gaming industry is due to popularity of the video game franchises like Alone in the Dark, Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Project Zero, and among all others games that categorized as Survival Horror. It has supernatural, zombies, slasher, vampires, aliens, and many more types of awesome horror games out there with tons of scare factor.
I'm going to make my favourite Top 5 Survival Horror Games of all time.

5 - Resident Evil (Both original and remake)

One of the Shinji Makami's classics called "Resident Evil" is the most influential horror game in history. When the game was came out in 1996, it became classic horror game for PS1, Saturn, and PC that the game got much attention among with gaming fans enjoying the experience of the Survival Horror atmosphere. It has memorable characters, excellent story, great gameplay aspects with puzzle solving, collecting items, going to different rooms, shooting zombies, and awesome boss fights what makes this game so fun to play. Despite the game has received positive reviews for PS1 version, it is also criticized for silly voice dialogue and cheesy live action cutscenes which was later improved for the 2002 remake of the game on Gamecube allowing to have better cutscenes, decent voice cast with fixed dialogue, and has much more scare factor than the original version. I love the original version of the game and so with the remake for Gamecube.

4 - The Last of Us

One of the best PS3 games ever made by Naughty Dog have stepped up into right positions of the horror game like this. The Last of Us is the magnificent game that offers the best story development with excellent made plot, awesome characters with great voice cast, nicely made cinematic cutscenes, fantastic graphics with brilliant visuals and animation, and it has the best gameplay mechanics in the game with brutal combat controls, stealthy levels, and the atmosphere of the game makes the game look wonderful for PS3 systems.
When the game was came out last year, it received much critical acclaim reviews by video game critics and won several awards winning in 2013. It is later re-released for PS4 as the remastered version with better graphics, runs the game in 60 Frame-Per-Seconds, and adding extra DLC chapters called "The Last of Us: Left Behind".
This game is definitely must play for PS3 and PS4.

3 - Clock Tower: The First Fear

Clock Tower: The First Fear is the Point and Click Horror game for SNES, PS1, and PC. It never got released outside of Japan, but it has reached gamers internationally by using the SNES emulator with fan-made translations. Clock Tower: The First Fear is well known slasher horror game for SNES that you have to play as the Girl named Jennifer has the mission to find friends in darkest mansion called Clock Tower.
The game have share the influences by the 1985 Italian horror movie "Phenomena" (AKA "Creepers" in US) that both has similar plot.
The game is pretty scary because of the whole game is dark and creepy, so I say the Scissor man is probably the best villain in the game that chases you around in the level what makes the game so challenging, but damn it's frigging nightmare in the game.
What I like about the game is to collect items, find something useful in the levels, and find place to hide that the creepy scissor man won't find you in the room makes it fun to play.
If you wanted to try this game out, I dare you to play this game because IT'S FRICKEN SCARY WITH SCISSOR MAN IN THE GAME!!!

2 - Dead Space

This details down below contains manly dialogue and badass humor:-

Hell yeah, Dead Space is the badass Sci-fi horror game by EA. You are playing as the awesome engineer called Issac Clarke are ready to kick some ass in the game. It has tons of deadly monsters are coming to chase you and you are ready to shoot the crap of them with brutal weapons like plasma cutter with three bullet shots that shoots the arms off, Motorised Pulse Rifle that rapidly shoots on the enemies, RC-DS Remote Control Disc Ripper that tears the monsters aparts, Handheld Gravition Accelerator that blows them up like a shotgun, and finally PFM-100 Hydrazine Torch Flamethrower that burns the hell out of them.
You can upgrade weapons and your armor with nodes to improve your weapons accuracy and player's abilities.
You can also beat the crap of them by using brutal melee attack with your hand and stomp them with your boot.
You have abilities to use Kinesis module to drag and throw the objects, and Stasis module that allowing to slow down the objects and enemies.
This game has tons of scare factor with loads of scary atmosphere that going to scare your pants off, lots of violence with blood and gore spreading all over the place, and it is going to excite you with brilliant made levels, intense boss fights, and great puzzle solving with higher challenge.
If you're manly enough ready to play this game, then get this game on PS3, X360, and PC and ready to kick some asssssssssssss!!!

1 - Silent Hill

Silent hill is one of my favourite survival horror game for PS1. Konami did a fabulous job on this game, so there are reasons to like this game is because it is psychological horror game with disturbing ambient soundtrack, deadly imagery with gory looking levels, creepy looking zombies, and some mysterious ghost in the game that takes place between real life and nightmare. It has well written story because this game is about the guy Harry Mason have to search his lost daughter name Cheryl since it happened in the car accident, so he have to explore the mysterious town called Silent Hill.
This game has really intense horror schemes making the game more fearful and disturbing.
It has well made gameplay with dramatic third person view, great combat controls with precised melee weapons and fire arms, and some nicely made puzzles in the levels.
It has the best graphics ever made on PS1 because it has fantastic 3D enviroment with stunning character models, and foggy visuals effects that fits the game well,
It does have the amazing sound effects with perfectly made ambient sounds making it sound scarier and the atmosphere of the game is somewhat the most terrifying things in the game with deadly monsters and lot of disturbing content in the game by far the scariest game of all time.

Beyond: Two Souls PS3 Review

Beyond: Two Souls is the Sci-Fi Interactive game for PS3 exclusive, which developed by Quantic Dream, who are well known for a award winning 2010 interactive game "Heavy Rain", and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.
I've never played the Heavy Rain just before I've picked this game from the random store, so it is my first interactive game for PS3, and what do I think about the game itself?
I heard a lot of average reviews from video game critics citing the game has praised for technical details on animations, emotional soundtrack, and Ellen Page's performances for the main protagonist in the game, but it is criticized for lack of gameplay, and poorly written story development. It seems the developers did try their best to make the game look amazing on PS3 system, but it didn't get to deserves much credits to pleases fans of the Heavy Rain, since they did well in 2010. I don't think the game is pretty bad because of the story, and gameplay. I think this game had some potential with good aspects of storytelling, characters, soundtrack, cinematic cutscenes, and gameplay mechanics is worth giving a game chance to have my reasons to like it, so lets get my review started, shall we!
The game is focusing on what's her questions of life and what happens next aftermath?
The story is about the life of girl named Jodie Holmes (Played by Ellen Page), who is psychically tethered to a ghostly entity named Aiden. She learns through 18 years from her childhood to adulthood, to discover the meaning of Aiden's existence. I say the story concept is quite decent that the game has sort of emotional feelings on the character's expressions, and it does have some good story mechanics between the characters conversation, which I kinda like the Jodie's life story in the game. I say the actors/actress done very good job on the characters with excellent performances and well presented characteristics keeps the story more interesting.
The gameplay takes control on jodie's action during the cinematic sequences, so you basically walk around by moving with left stick, and pressing the right stick for camera control to look around, but it is also pressed for point of interest, when you see the white dots been appeared on the screen allowing to command character by picking up objects, opening doors, views on pictures, and etc.
You can also take control of Aiden has the abilities of using powers like fiddling stuff, unlocking doors, using healing powers, and mind controlling on peoples,
In action sequences, you have to press the correct button by following Jodie's movements during the quick-time event, so you push with right stick allowing Jodie's action to avoid getting hit by enemies or hazards object, and tapping the buttons that appeared on the screen, which commanding main character to run, set free, and shoot on enemies in quick-time event purposes.
In story sequences, you have the options of selecting the character's choices during the conversation, so you have to press any button whether you think it suitable for the main character's plot.
I say I like the gameplay sequences, choice of story mechanics, and Aiden's as the supporting character what makes the game works very well done in the game.
The graphics in the game looks magnificent for motion capture games. It has very realistic character design, well presented animation features, great special effects, and very best looking cinematic sequences makes it the best graphics ever made in the game.
The music and sounds has the amazing soundtrack by Lorne Balfe that keeps the game fitted well to express emotional cutscenes, heartbreaking moments, and the atmospheres of the game. I say the voice actor/actress Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe done very outstanding job on the characters, which fits very well for their characteristics performances and keeps themselves self entertaining.
The special features has unlockable content, such as concept art, behind the scenes, DLC pack, and chapter select.

Advantages

Well made gameplay

Incredible graphics

Amazing soundtrack

Very cinematic cutscenes

Decent story and characters

Outstanding actors/actress

Disadvantages

Short length of game

European version did censor some parts compared with other version

Final Verdict

Bottom line....

Gameplay 8/10 - Great gameplay mechanics, cool story mechanics, and intense QTE action sequences.

Graphics 10/10 - Very realistic character design, well presented animation features, great special effects, and very best looking cinematic sequences.

Music and sounds 9/10 - Amazing soundtrack and brilliant voice acting.

Special Features 8/10 - It has unlockable content, such as concept art, behind the scenes, DLC pack, and chapter select.

Overall 8.5/10 - Beyond: Two Souls is still incredible game, but yet the most underrated PS3 games of all time. This game has lot of efforts to have decent storytelling, good characters, interesting story mechanics, superb looking graphics, very cinematic feel, and wonderful soundtrack to keep the game having a fantastic presentation and some concepts, but the video game critics felt the game doesn't get deserve with much credit as what developers did well with Heavy Rain in 2010 gets much critical acclaim scores. I've enjoyed my experience on Beyond: Two Souls what makes the game feels more enjoyable and still entertaining to play. In my opinion, I love this game and this game deserves to be the best interactive game so far. It is still worth to buy it for those who are the fans of interactive games like Heavy Rain.

Siren Blood Curse PS3 Review

Siren Blood Curse is the Survival Horror for PS3, which developed by Project Siren of SCE Japan Studio, and Published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the remake of the original 2004 game called Forbidden Siren for PS2. The game was directed by Keiichiro Toyama, a creator who made the first Silent Hill for PS1 just before he left the company Konami to join SCE Japan Studio to work on Siren series. I haven't played the original Siren game because I haven't got the PS2 just before I've brought this game for PS3, which I got it from the random bargain shop for £4.00 seems to be a good deal. Anyway lets move on to the review right now.
This game takes place in Hanuda Village, Japan. It all started with American TV crew began to use video recording footage on the people of Shibito performing rituals to sacrifice the innocent girl just before Howard Wright (Main Protagonist) attempt to escape from the Forrest. In gameplay, your playing as the Howard Wright has the mission to defend himself from the deadly village people, so you get to play as the other characters like Sam, Melissa, Bella, and Saiga for later episode.
Your character has the ability to use sight jacking, which is used for seeing the visions of the enemies can be appeared on the split screen, and you can change targets to others by pressing the shoulder buttons, so I like the sight jacking part, which is useful to navigate on the enemy's whereabouts. You can press d-pad button to turn the flashlight on/off, some commons actions like yelling and setting traps, and commanding support players to wait here or carry on running during the gameplay. In stealth gameplay, you can use crouch by pressing couch to evade from the enemies without getting alerted from them, which the sound of heartbeat can be vibrated on your controller that tells the players are almost about to get easily caught by the enemies, so the vibration on the controller really helps me how to get away from the enemy's whereabouts.
The combat gameplay does have some decent melee weapons like shovels, pick axe, metal pipe, and knife are good for hit detection, but you can also hit the enemies with stronger attack by holding the attack button. The weapons like pistols, shotguns, and rifles are actually works well, but I'm having trouble with aiming controls depends what weapons you've picked up. Some weapons like pistols can be used for lock ons only makes difficult to aim, and others like rifle can be worked as free aiming, which I find it easy to aim.
The character's movement is quite average for controls. Using left stick for controlling characters to move around, but to use sideways walk, you have to hold the left shoulder button and then move it with left stick feels very awkward for character's movements. The camera control feels very clunky to control because you can't use the camera movement very freely, so you end up with having clumsy camera angle by using right stick to tilt camera. You can use first person camera view by holding the right trigger button, but you can also toggle third person perspective to first person perspective by clicking on right stick button, which seems sound cool to have it, but it feels not easy too as well, so it takes while to get used with controls. I say the motion controls are bit overdone, when shaking the controller to break free from the enemies, so it would been better by tapping the button rather than just shaking the controller.
I like the levels in the game because I enjoyed the puzzle solving and the atmosphere of the levels, which gives me a great challenge with creepy monsters and darker settings of the game.
I say Bella are far even the frustrating character in the game when playing as her in some chapters. It is because she gets easily caught by the enemies nearby during the stealth gameplay, especially the other character you playing as have to protect Bella from the enemies. If she gets caught by enemies nearby, then you failed the mission making harder for players to complete the level.
I say the gameplay has some good levels, decent challenge, and has ability to use sight jacking are sounds pretty decent, but I say the average controls could have done better job, but it's not a bad thing in the game until you get used with this game.
The graphics looks pretty done a good job with creepy settings on backgrounds and textures. The visuals effects are very well made for sight jacking view. The character models looks good for human characters, but I say the Shibito people are the scariest looking in the game, and the level settings are looking great with darker animations to make the game look stand out for horror game.
The music and sounds has well made soundtrack with brilliant atmosphere gives a horror feeling in the scenes and lot of scary tone for sound effects, which really fits well in the game, and the voice cast done a great job on the characters as well.
The special features has behind the scenes video, archives, and chapter selection are sounds pretty okay, but it didn't have trophy support, which is quite shame that the game did not have it, but still a nice try.

Advantages

Scary atmosphere

Awesome sight jacking views

Challenged levels

Decent storyplot

Well made music soundtrack and creepy tone sound effects

Good graphics

Disadvantages

Awkward controls

Bella makes harder in the game

Overused motion controls

Final Verdict

Bottom line....

Gameplay 6.5/10 - Does have good levels, puzzle solving, and challenged boss fights. While the combat weapons are decent, but the character's controls could have done better for this game unless you need to get used with controls.

Graphics 8/10 - Creepy backgrounds and textures, darker animations, good characters model, and well made sight jacking views are pretty stand out for horror game.

Music and sounds 9/10 - Great soundtrack, scary tone sound effects and good voice acting.

Special Features 6.5/10 - It has behind the scenes video, archives, and chapter selection.

Overall 6.7/10 - Siren Blood Curse does have the amazing scare factor, decent storyplot, and the atmosphere of cutscenes are well presented for the game. I like the ideas of sight jacking view and village people are the most scariest things in the game. It has great soundtrack and horrific tone for sound effects as the best soundwork in the game. I felt that the gameplay controls hasn't aged well for its standards due to clunky camera system, and stiff character's movement which makes it difficult to play for the newcomers, but I say the levels are pretty good with decent puzzle solving, stealth, and some good boss fights.

It might not be for everyone to try it out unless if you're the hardcore fan of the Siren series. If this game might be interesting in you then it is worth giving this game try by buying the game in less than £10, but if you unsure about this game then rent this game or ask your friends to borrow.

After Burner Climax PS3 Digital Download Review

History of After Burner Series

It all started in 1987, Yu Suzuki, a well known designer who made the best video game series like Space Harrier, Outrun, Virtua Fighter, and Shenmue series, decided to develop the game called After Burner for arcade machines that pushed into the 4MB technology that allows to enhanced better graphics and more variety of gameplay. It is the combat flight shooter is where you take control of flight jet has the mission to shoot the crap of the enemies jets, which you firing with machine gun and missiles that locks on to enemy allowing missile shoots directly to the enemy. The game was later came out for home consoles, such as SEGA Master Systems, Famicom, Turbografx 16, and SEGA 32X.
They are later making the sequel for the arcade, but more like the revision called After Burner 2 that features throttle controls, which allowing player's jet to boost speed, 3 brand new stages, and recomposed music instrument, so the game just came out a same year as the first game release. It was later release for home consoles, such as Amiga, PC, Turbografx 16, SEGA Genesis, and SEGA Saturn as the part of the SEGA Ages collection.  I love the After Burner 2 because I remember playing this game on SEGA Saturn version, so the game is fast paced combat flight shooter with full speed action, tons of enemies jets coming towards you, and challenging levels makes the game even more fun is the best flight games ever.
In 1993, they made the third game called After Burner 3 for SEGA CD, which is different from the previous game. It featured cinematic sequences, two selectable in game view, and the back view option. It receives far mediocre reviews from the critics citing the game is the worst on the series.
In 2006, SEGA-AM2 brings the another sequel called After Burner Climax for the arcade version, that meant to change the variety of gameplay, such as better controls, adding climax mode, and bit of more challenging levels. It is also introducing 2 brand new aircraft that are not presented in previous games. It is later release in 2010 for the home consoles like PS3 and X360, which the game itself are available on PSN Store and XBLA Store as digital game only. It gain positive reviews from the critics citing the game is fun to play with good levels, gameplay improvements, and adding extra features what makes the sequel far even better than the After Burner 3 for SEGA CD.

After Burner Climax PS3 Digital Download Review

After Burner Climax is the combat flight shooter for PS3 and X360, which developed by SEGA AM2, and Published by SEGA. It is the sequel to previous games that was released in 90's.
This game offers the 2 new aircraft, more levels, score attack mode, improved gameplay, and unlockable stuff in the game.
The gameplay is just like the previous game. You take control of player's jet to shoot down the enemies jet and head to the next level. The controls of the player's flight handle very well, so you get to perform 360 degrees roll by pushing the left stick to the right stick. You can use boost speed by pressing the trigger button allowing player's jet to boost forward, which is the quickest way to pass through the levels. Using the slow throttle allowing player's jet to perform slow speed, which is used for when the enemy's jet are attacking you from behind.
You can shoot the enemy's jet by using the machine gun or a missile, which locks on the enemies allowing missile directly shoots to enemy.
You can use climax mode, which allowing to slow down the game, while you moving the aiming controls to lock on all the enemies, which gives you a missile combo hits on the enemy's aircraft is sounds pretty cool, but I think it's bit slow compared to previous game.
I say the gameplay is quite decent for the game that works well for the modern games consoles.
The graphics in the game look nice with polished visuals, greater details on backgrounds, and amazing level design are far looking perfect for the modern arcade gaming.
The music and sounds has the awesome soundtrack, especially from the After Burner 2 are by far the best music in classic days, but you get to play any custom MP3 music as well for the game. The sound effects has the good atmosphere, background noise, and some sound effect from the aircraft sounds pretty good in the game.
The special features has leaderboards, trophy support, and unlockable stuff are the great features that the game have to offer.

Advantages

Decent gameplay

Amazing graphics

Awesome music score

Aircraft sound effects

Superb levels

Cool climax mode

Disadvantages

It wasn't fast paced as the previous games

Short length game

Final Verdict

Is After Burner Climax a good game?

Gameplay 7.5/10 - Decent controls, and great levels with good challenge.

Graphics 9/10 - Polished visuals, greater details on backgrounds, and amazing level design.

Music and Sound 8/10 - Awesome soundtrack, and cool aircraft sound effects.

Special Features 7.5/10 - It has leaderboards, trophy support, and unlockable stuff.

Overall 7.8/10 - After Burner Climax is beyond a good game, but it's not far good as the previous game like After Burner 1 and 2. SEGA took the game in the right direction that they wanted to make it look fantastic for the modern console gaming. It does offer the gameplay improvements with bit more variety, amazing graphics is by far best looking arcade animation, and some extra features in the game is definitely worth to download it from PSN store and XBLA store, so I'll recommend this game goes to gamers, who are the fan of the series.

Earthworm Jim HD PS3 Digital Download Review

History of Earthworm Jim

In 1994, Shiny Entertainment brought their first Run "N" Gun game called Earthworm Jim for SEGA Genesis. The game was well known for fluid animation like cartoon shows, unique gameplay controls, wacky difficulty levels, and one awesome main protagonist Earthworm Jim is funny as hell in the game, which makes the best Run "N" Gun game in 90's. It was later release for Super Nintendo, PC, Handhelds, and SEGA CD. While the game was the one of the Shiny Entertainment's most successful video game in the 90's, It was also made the non-video game products, such as action figures, comic book series, and television series. Earthworm Jim 2 was released in 1996 for SEGA Genesis, Super Nintendo, SONY Playstation, SEGA Saturn, and PC. It is the sequel to first original Earthworm Jim with more diverse gameplay, and better levels. It received very positive reviews from the critics citing the game is just even good as the original game. In 1999, Earthworm Jim 3D was released for Nintendo 64, and PC. It is the first game that features both 3D gameplay mechanics, and graphics. It received far negative reviews from the critics and considered to be worst game on the series, along with Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 the galaxy for Game Boy. In 2010, Gameloft made the remake of the first original game for PS3, and X360, which was released on PSN, and XBLA store. The game featured with high definition graphics, 4 player co-op, and 3 bonus levels. It received mixed to positive review from the critics that they praised for co-op mode, and extra levels, but the gameplay had not aged well for the HD counterpart, but it's still plays solid.

Earthworm Jim HD PS3 Digital Download Review

Earthworm Jim HD is the Run "N" Gun action-platformer for PS3, and X360, which developed by Gameloft, and published by Interplay Entertainment. It is the remake of the original 1994 game.
My thoughts on this game is does actually did a good job by developers brought back the classic remake to the modern consoles, so it did offer the 4 players co-op are actually pretty cool for the whole game because it's fun to play with your friends at locally or play with anyone on online co-op to give you a great experience on this game. Having 3 bonus levels are sounds pretty good on this game, but it's missing the 2 secret levels that had on the special edition for SEGA CD, and PC, which is shame that they don't include the 2 of the levels from the earlier version.
So let's get the review started, shall we. The story of the game is about Jim is the normal Earthworm started to wriggle around outside, until the super suit falls from the sky, allows him to operate like a human, so he became Earthworm Jim. Your main goal is to defeat the enemies, who came after him to get the suit back, and also Jim has to rescue and protect the Princess What's Her Name from them.
The gameplay plays very good indeed because it's stays the original of the 1994 game, so you get to have good gameplay mechanics with precised control, allowing player to shoot guns in different directions giving a better aiming controls scheme. The shooting detection is pretty solid, which you can able to attack the enemies properly without any issues. The whip is useful for attaching the hook, allowing player to swing forward from the certain hooks, and you can attack the enemies with whip as well. You get to have a good levels, such as "Andy's Asteroids" is where Jim rides with his rockets in the race against Psy-Crow, and "For Pete's sake" is where you have to protect Peter Puppy from getting damaged from the enemies before he turns into mutant monster that attempts to kill the players by dragging you back to certain points of the levels and taking your health points away, which I finding the levels are very enjoyable with lot of good challenge. I also like the bungie fight level is where the players have to attack and push the enemy back on the wall, and undermaze water level is where you are inside of the watership have to rush to the different area in time limit without crashing the wall, which makes the game levels worth playing.
The graphics in the game has really nice character animation with good motions, detailed backgrounds with filtered colored and some good layouts, decent visuals with scaling features, and fluid level design are very suitable for HD remake are by far the best looking graphics on modern consoles.
The music and sounds has the awesome music, which originally made by Tommy Tallarico for original 1994 game, but it is the remastered version of the original 1994 music, which sounds pretty great for this game. It does have the wacky sound effects and still has the voice acting on the main protagonist, which originally voiced by Doug TenNapel for 1994 version, but it has the amazing remastered voice that fits the character very well. Earthworm Jim has the best catchphrase in the game, such as "GROOVY!" and "WHOA, NELLY!"
The special features offers the 3 bonus levels, leaderboards, and trophy support are the good choices in the game.

Advantages

Great gameplay mechanics

Superb challenge for every levels

Fluid graphics

Best catchphrases in the game

4 players co-ops

3 bonus stages

Some funny moments

Disadvantages

Lack of the 2 secret levels that originally appeared on SEGA CD, and PC version of original 1994 game special edition.

No downloadable content pack.

Final Verdict

Is it the best HD remake so far?

Gameplay 8.5/10 - Great gameplay controls, and some awesome variety of levels with great challenge.

Graphics 8/10 - Fluid animations,  detailed backgrounds, decent visuals, and great level design.

Music and sounds 8/10 - Awesome remastered version of original music, wacky sound effects, and cool voice overs.

Special Features 7/10 - 3 bonus levels, leaderboards, and trophy supports.

Overall 8/10 - Yes, this remake deserves the best. Earthworm Jim is still the amazing Run "N" Gun game for SEGA Genesis, so with this HD remake did a groovy job by Gameloft. The game will be appealed to the fans of the Earthworm Jim series, but I don't know why the critics have to give this game a mixed review score, which I don't fully agree with them. This game have deserved some credit for the HD version that offers the 4 players co-op and 3 bonus stages, which is sounds really cool. If you are a new to the Run"N" Gun genres or if you're the fan of the original Earthworm Jim, who liked to have co-op mode and 3 bonus levels, then this is definitely worth to buy the game by downloading it from the PSN and XBLA store.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs PS3 Review

Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs is the 3D Arcade-Fighting game for PS3, which developed, and published by Namco Bandai Games. It is the sequel to Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs Gundam NEXT.
This game is only came out in Japan as the Japanese exclusive PS3 games, but the PS3 is still region free console, so you could play any region games on your PS3 system.
So what do I think about this game? is it the amazing Gundam game on PS3? Yes it is. This is the Gundam game that I've wanted to play it.
This game features 31 playable suit units, arcade mode with 8 difficulty matches, free battle mode with local mulitiplayer matches, online battle mode, trial mission with loads more mission levels, and briefing room to use custom mp3 music, player's profiles, and etc.
The gameplay plays very good for 3D arcade-fighting games. It's very similar to one of the SEGA's arcade game called "Cyber-Troopers Virtual On", but with even better gameplay mechanics. The purpose of the gameplay is to fight your opponent to take down their remaining team's cost. Your team's cost bar contains 6 samples, so if your health points reaches zero then it's drains your team's cost samples, depending what characters you're playing as. If the team's cost bar have nothing left then the players wins the match.
I say the rule of the game is sounds pretty good, because it's giving the game more enjoyable to play.
The controls has very straight forward character's movements, while the lock on systems is continuing stays on the enemies, which gives you a easy way to attack them and dodge away from the opponment. You can change the lock ons to the different enemies, if the enemies is attacking you from behind, when the yellow colored alert icon appeared on the screen. The combat gameplay has great melee attack with good hit detection, and feels more balanced and responsive. The main weapon attack is doing pretty good, when the targeting turns red meaning it's giving you a responsive attacks, but the weapons sometimes runs out, which you have to wait until the weapons is properly charged up automatically, which is not taking too long. It does have the great special melee attacks and weapons, which works very well, but you can activate EX boost power to have a more damaging attacks on the opponments. Your player's can able to use dashing moves and fly around the stages, which sounds pretty cool on the game. The game is also compatible with wireless or USB arcade stick, if you have one for your PS3.
The graphics have some decent visuals effects, some good characters models, great level designing with properly well done stages and backgrounds, and awesome looking animation with good environment of cutscenes and whole game with colored details for modern arcade game.
The music and sound has the theme music "The Catalyst" made by Linkin Park, which is the same song that also featured on the trailer of the 2010 game "Medal of Honor". So I prefer listening the 2 of the good old Linkin Park albums in olden days. It does have some Japanese music from the Gundam anime series, which sounds pretty cool. The good thing about the game is you can edit the BGM from the briefing room, which allows you to choose any custom MP3 music in the game. The sound effects is just like the anime series itself. It gives better sound background and some atmospheres to make it sounds cool. The voice acting speaks in Japanese for every characters from the Gundam series sounds very original for the game, but it's harder for US and European gamers to understand them, is due to lack of english subtitles.
The special features has downloadable content and trophies achievements.

Advantages

Very good gameplay

Great trial missions

Fun local mulitiplayer battles with 2 players

Arcade stick compatible

Good looking graphics

Featuring custom MP3 musics

It's region free games

Disadvantages

Lack of English subtitles for cutscenes makes harder for US and European gamers to understand.

Only released in Japan

Not enough special features

Final Verdict

Bottom line.....

Gameplay 8/10 - Well good controls, unique combat gameplay. and great matches on arcade mode and mission mode makes the game worth playable.

Graphics 8/10 - Decent visuals effects, some good characters models, great level designing with properly well done stages and backgrounds, and awesome looking animation with good environment of cutscenes and whole game with colored details makes awesome looking modern arcade games.

Music and Sound 8/10 - Great music from Gundam anime series including custom MP3s. Cool sound effects and very original voice cast.

Special Features - 5/10 - Downloadable content and trophies achievements.

Overall 8/10 - Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs is the amazing game by Namco Bandai Games, even it's only came out in Japan. It has brilliant characters choices in the game, great missions levels, fun packed arcade battle, and superb mulitiplayer battle makes the best Gundam games so far. I suggest you to get this from Amazon or Ebay in cheaper price, if you're a fan of the series or the arcade games.
