Resident Evil: Revelations PS3 Review

I've already reviewed Resident Evil 5 since 3 three years ago. If you haven't seen my review of Resident Evil 5, go check it out on my blog archive and find it on 2011 list. Ok'ay let's move on to this review.
Resident Evil: Revelations is the third person survival horror for 3DS, PS3, X360, PC and Wii U, which both developed and published by Capcom. This game was used to be 3DS exclusive since 2012, but back in 2013, Capcom announced that port of this game will be headed to console versions, which contains some new features, updated graphics, and supports trophies/achievements through online services. It may be good as the original 3DS, but there's slightly some missing and few problems of this game. The story takes place between the events of RE4 and RE5, BSAA agents Jill and Parker headed in SS Queen Zenobia's ship to find Chris and Jessica's whereabouts, who are reportedly gone missing and lost contacted with HQ, during their mission to investigate Veltro's possible reappearences. I say the story sounds pretty decent with more survival horror atmosphere, suspense story development, and some good dialogue for cutscenes. The characters in the game are quite good. Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield are still classy RE characters. There are some new characters, like Parker, Jessica and Raymond are done ok'ay, but I say Keith and Quint are proberly the most dumbest RE characters in the game. This game has 12 episodes for single player campaign and the Raid mode has 21 levels and 2 player online co-op. The gameplay plays good for console version, but feels bit same as the original 3DS. The controls scheme moves lot easier than the RE5 because the players can run automatically, if you push the stick forward and you can use sidewalk, while aiming at the enemy. The weapons and items are easy to change by pressing the d-pad button without having go to inventory options, however you can swap and upgrade different weapons from the rooms that has green weapon box. The dodging moves can be automatically dodge, when the players moves to side of the enemy, which become too hard to avoid enemy's attack because it didn't show the command on screen button, which RE4 and RE5 already had one. You can use herbs as the health items by pressing the button, which is the quickest way to heal your character's health. The combat gameplay plays very good. The weapons are quite good for shooting ranges, precise aiming controls and intense shooting attacks are pretty well done. You can use quick melee attack by pressing fire button, without holding the aim button and you can also use quick throw grenades by pressing the throwing button, which sounds better than having grenades equipped from the inventory options. Your characters can able to swim in underwater as well in different levels, which is sounds pretty cool, but you can't able to use melee attack on enemies, while you still swimming on the underwater. You can use scanner to scan the objects, such as enemies, items and fingerprints, which is quite handy for single player campaign. I say this gameplay has good puzzle solving, challenging boss fights, and decent controls for movements and combat system. I also love the mini game, like Raid mode, which is fun and enjoyable for everyone, who enjoys mercenaries mini games, should give a try out of this mini game with exciting 21 levels and 2 player online co-op, but too bad there's no split screen mode, why Capcom?
The graphics has some of the improvements from 3DS version. The character's design looks more detailed, the visuals and animation looks decent enough, but I say the background and textures seems pretty bit dull and grinny. It lacks 3D capatibility for console version, which is quite shame compared to 3DS look slightly better, but the console version is still looking good on graphical environment.
The music and sounds has amazing music score, great sound effects, good scare factor and excellent voice acting on characters.
The special features has unlockables character's outfit, levels select for single player and raid mode, difficulty options and DLC pack.

Final Verdict

Should I give this game a chance?

Gameplay 7.5/10 - Good control scheme for movements, camera and combat system.

Graphics 7.1/10 - Great character's design, nice visuals and animation, but dull looking background and textures, and lack of 3D capatibillity for console version.

Music and sounds 8.6/10 - Amazing music, good sound effects and excellent voice acting.

Special features 7.8/10 - Unlockable character's outfit, levels select for single player and raid mode, difficulty options and DLC pack.

Overall 7.7/10 - I say it's far much better than the RE6. This game offers some survival horror roots, good story development and great single player missions, especially the outstanding mini game, which makes the game much entertaining and worth to play it. I recommended to all console gamers, who don't own handheld console, should able to get this game.
