We all know the mastermind companies like Nintendo had faired shares with their successful systems from the past like the NES that became the system best-selling in the mid-80s that saved the gaming industry since the terrible video game crash had occurred around in 1983, and then went onto the 16-bit machine like the SNES which was being the best known for its own killer software libraries and has visually impressive technologies which shows the 16-bit powerhouse that made the system so unique at the time in the early 90's, and then entering the 3D technology gaming which Nintendo had bought their very first 3D system like the N64 which was being praised for its technical feats for the game libraries as well as the software exclusives and multiplayer games which the N64 is being placed as the second best-selling system of 5th-gen console era.
Now moving on to the 6th-gen system like the Nintendo Gamecube which I considered this system to be a one of the kind video game console that I am amazed with the numerous of game libraries being on the Nintendo system like the Super Mario Sunshine, Luigi's Mansion, Metroid Prime, The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker, and of course the system's best-seller Super Smash Bros Melee are the main pinnacle of the Gamecube's library that defines my childhood days in 2000's era.
I wanted to create my list of favourite multiplayer games where you can invite your friends and families to come over your house to play a 4-players games locally, so what are the best games to play a multiplayer mode on the Gamecube? I am covering some of the multiplayer games that plays really fun and being well entertained, so remember guys this is my own top 5 stuff which is based on my opinion and I am hoping you going to enjoy reading my 5 favourites list.
So without go further do, here is my Top 5 Gamecube's Multiplayer Games.
5 - Timesplitters 2
Remember the good old days when we had Goldeneye 007 on N64 which is highly regarded as being one of the greatest FPS games of all-time was hailed for its not only with the single-player campaign, but being recognisable for its 4-players mayhem action that are so addicting by shooting and blasting the f**k out of each others pieces is what made the game quite memorable back then, and we had a follow-up like Perfect Dark on N64 are also received similar praises which had really great multiplayer matches to play.
After several of the team members had left the company like Rareware in early 2000s, they went on to forming the new development company titled as Free Radical Design to create their successor to previous two titles such as Timesplitters which the first game had released in 2000 for PS2, but they made even better with the follow-up title such as Timesplitters 2 just got made its to multiplatform release in 2 years later for PS2, Xbox, and of course Gamecube.
Timesplitters 2 is the game that I'm always the fan of these types of same style as the predecessors like the Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark in terms of atmospheres and gameplay design.
The reason to like this game is that it has the story campaign which gives you an option to play single-play solo or 2-players co-op which is great addition for FPS games that shares with really good co-op campaign action.
I got to say that I also enjoyed the 4-players battle where you get to challenge your friends or families through the competitive matches like the free-for-all deathmatch where you must kill your opponent to gain many points as possible to win the match, team deathmatch is like the standard deathmatch but instead you're teaming up with your friends to fight against the opponent teams, capture the bag is where you must steal the opponent's bag and retrieve it to your team base to gain points, elimination is a last man standing which you must defeat your opponent till they are fully eliminated, virus is where you must evade one of the player who are infected by the virus till you get caught in action, and it has various of modes to play.
I am incredibly amazed with the smoothness of gameplay especially playing on multiplayer modes which ran on full 60fps with no signs of slow downs whatsoever making it the cleanest and smoothest multiplayer FPS on the system that you guys can able to enjoy the game entirely without the problem.
The game also available on other platforms like PS2 and Xbox original, but that didn't stop me putting this game on my top 5 list as being the Gamecube's multiplayer games because I had a fond time playing over an hours of multiplayer matches with my cousins and friends back then, so if you wanted to get into with the FPS multiplayer games then go play this, I can guarantee you may gonna enjoy this type of game.
4 - Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2
At the time when SEGA had ended the life-support of Dreamcast in around between 2001 and 2002 meaning they are no longer creating the hardware business and went heavily focus on software titles for non-SEGA platforms.
There are one of the game that I find incredibly enjoyable to play on Gamecube which is Super Monkey Ball, a series where you take control of these monkeys to complete the beginners to expert main courses and participate the 4-players mini-games matches.
What makes both the game quite fun to play is that it had over 10 to 50 floors consists with 3 difficulty levels, as the main courses let's you have an options to play single-play solo or 2 to 4-player simultaneous split-screen in competition difficulty mode.
The main course fills with many crazy obstacles starting from being dead simple easy to even more ridiculously impossible to beat is what makes the main course mode an entertaining platforming action gets really wacky.
What makes it even wackier to play is the multiplayer madness featuring cool and addicting mini-games stuff like monkey race is where you must race through the track till you've reached the 1st position to win, monkey fight is where you must beat the opponent each other to get points, monkey target is where you'll glide through the mid-air till you've reached the dropping area spot with multiple points to gain scores.
There are more interesting game modes to play with like the monkey billiards, monkey bowling, monkey golf, and of course the second title introducing more new mini-games like monkey tennis, monkey baseball, monkey soccer, monkey boat, monkey shot, and monkey dogfight is the reason to play both of the Super Monkey Ball games.
I say both of these games are fantastic because this is the best way of playing the multiplayer stuff that you guys can get a hands on with the Super Monkey Ball mayhem with lot of exciting courses and mini-games to play, so get your bananas ready and start monkeying around with the capsule ball.
It is also available on PS2 and Xbox original titled as Super Monkey Ball Deluxe which includes both the 1 and 2 are also a good console port, but I feel the Gamecube version is slightly better for its smoother controls due to Gamecube controller were fully designed for this type of game makes even more enjoyable to play.
3 - WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$!
You want even more wacky stuff, here's WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$! which is basically an 2004's remake of the GBA 2003's title such as WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgames! featuring not only it had basic single-player mode which includes over 200 mini games from the original WarioWare games, but introducing 8 special multiplayer modes for up to 4-players that all involve the known microgames in some way.
Your goal is to complete each of the fast-paced micro games within a demanding time limit, as it features over 200 microgames across 9 stages hosted by Wario and his companions each centred around themes such as sports, nature, and classic Nintendo games, as well as remix stages that feature microgames from previous stages.
This game involves around the concept of bite-sized minigames which is known as microgames that lasts only few seconds. The game can only controlled with analog stick or directional pad and single button, so a player must figure out what they are supposed to do, aided by a word or phrase that appears briefly on the screen, and clear the conditions within the time limit. The minigames has several of gameplay events such as shooting a certain numbers of targets, selecting a multiple choice answer, or simply surviving until the time has passed.
The multiplayer has each of some wackiest stuffs like survival fever in which players are eliminated after failing 3 microgames, balloon bang in which players attempt to not be actively playing a microgame when balloon inflated by the other players bursts, listen to the doctor in which players must perform a given action while completing a microgame and are rated by their opponents, wobbly bobbly in which players must keep a stack of turtles balanced with another turtle being added after each microgame, outta my way in which one player is playing microgames while the other players try to distract and make them fail by moving around the screen to block their view, card-e cards in which players have to pick up e-reader cards with a screenshot of a microgame on from one of two decks, while other players could steal cards one and another during a microgame, and there are more multiplayer modes to play stuff.
I consider this game has the weirdest minigames to play with, but it is also one of the most enjoyable family game for the Nintendo system because it has many of wacky minigames events, funniest sense of humour and has multiple of multiplayer modes to enjoy that are very innovative and most entertaining game to play. I highly recommended to most of the casual audiences who are into with family-friendly games genre is definite must play on the Gamecube system.
2 - Mario Kart Double Dash
Want to get into with the kart racing game with tons of racing actions? well here's Mario Kart Double Dash for the Gamecube.
Before I start discussing about this game being on the no.2 list, let's talk about the series that are quite popular on the Nintendo systems starting off with Super Mario Kart on SNES where you take control of Mario and his racing opponents participating the grand prix to complete the race course to become a racing cup champion or take the course action against the opponent by throwing item each other in battle mode is what made the game quite successful on 16-bit system, and there's the 2nd installiment for N64 titled as Mario Kart 64 which featured even more crazier race tracks and has cool multiplayer modes up to 4-players which I consider it as one of the best racing game in the series in my opinion.
Now entering Mario Kart Double Dash, a game that does the series a justice by going forward with the brand new tracks that are incredibly insane to play, has new power-ups and attacking items gives an advantages to take down the racing drivers, more playable drivers to unlock, and of course having an passenger to team up with the driver makes the game even better than ever before.
Well of course the multiplayer is just as good, so you have standard versus match mode up to 4-players where players must win the race by reaching to the finishing goal, and of course the battle mode which has balloon battle is basically a standard match where players must beat each other till they ran out the remaining balloons, and they also introduced other two modes like shine thief is where players must retrieve a shine dropped on the course and keep it in hand till the time runs out and there are bob-omb blast is where players use bob-ombs as a weapons to hit their opponents and score stars to win.
The best part of the game is that it's not just the local 4-players mode that are just as enjoyable, but it also featured an online play through LAN adapter up to 16-players in 8 console pairs which is way ahead it's time right before the online play functionally became a common thing on later Nintendo platforms like the Mario Kart Wii for the Nintendo Wii which is sadly has 12-players online are about 4-players shorter compared with this game has more.
Wow, this is got to be a Gamecube's biggest multiplayer on the system which I finding it quite fascinating with the technical features and what more do you want? because Mario Kart Double Dash is the finest kart-racing game that you definitely needed to play this on the Gamecube.
1 - Super Smash Bros Melee
Well well well everyone, you know exactly why I've put this game on the number 1 spot as being my favourite Gamecube's best multiplayer games ever, so that is Super Smash Bros Melee.
Before I getting to that, I wanted to share the small history behind the series. It's a crossover fighting game franchise made by Nintendo themselves which is hugely popular on each platform, so starting with the first game on the N64 which is credited for its unique and simple fighting mechanics are great for the beginners to get into with fighting game genres, has several of playable rosters from any Nintendo franchises, has epic fighting stages filled with hazardous objects and insane obstacles, and of course the 4-player brawling mayhem is the reason why the game is so good on the system.
Nintendo had made even better on the follow-up title such as Super Smash Bros Melee on the Gamecube which featured bigger numbers of fighting rosters to play as, more crazier fighting stages, and has many awesome game modes on both the single-play and multiplayer matches such as melee mode where you and your opponent must beat up each other till you fly off the screen to gain points, stamina mode is basically like most of the standard fighting games with health percentages, giant or tiny mode is where you and opponent either fight each other in shrink or enlarge sized, sudden death mode is just the standard one hit kills match, challenge mode is where you must complete all the list of challenging mission been given on the tasks, multi-man mode is where you must defeat many groups of multi-man fighters as possible within time limit or stock remaining, homerun contest mode is where you must send sandbag flying in the mid-air till it stops about how much distance you have reached up to, classic mode is just an standard arcade mode with 10 matches to complete, all-star mode is where you must defeat all remaining fighting rosters, and of course the adventure mode is where you are participated to fight and complete throughout the courses are the major reason to like this game with tons of replay values.
Super Smash Bros Melee is commercially success becoming the Gamecube's best-selling title which sold over 7 million copies worldwide, and it is critically acclaimed by gaming media press and fans communities calling it the greatest video game of all-time and also won several of award as the best fighting game.
It is also widely played competitive video game and has been featured in several high-profile tournaments which many consider it to be the most competitively viable game in the series.
I say this is definitely must play for not just the Gamecube collectors, but also a fan of the fighting games genres as a whole will likely gonna enjoy this epic brawling action filled with fantastic fighting roster and has excellent 4-players matches to play.
