Doom 3: BFG Edition PS3 Review

I love the Doom series since in my childhood memories. I'm going to talk about the history of Doom series before reviewing this game.

History of Doom series.

Back in 1992, Id Software is best known for FPS classic games like Wolfenstein 3d which is a first FPS game came on PC before the original Doom released in 1993 which became successful FPS game on PC which praises for solid gameplay, graphics engine, best music track comes with heavy metal ambient composed by Bobby Prince and online muiltiplayer battle became the first PC games supports online networking. While Doom is became best FPS game for PC in 1993, it's also became a controversial due to graphic violence and satanic themes which had became a biggest video game controversy of all time. Id Software have brought the sequel called Doom 2 released in 1994 which had became a another great sequel to original Doom. In 1997, Doom 64 came for Nintendo 64 with different graphics engine and same gameplay as original Doom. It quite lot darker than the original to make the game look like a proper horror genre in FPS game but it's a decent game for N64 but it was'nt just good as the original. In between 2004 and 2005, Id Software brings Doom 3 for PC and Xbox comes with newer gameplay and graphics, more darker elements, new monster, improved weapons and different storyplot. It became the greatest FPS game around in 2005. Id Software are considering to make a sequel to Doom 3 in sometime future perfect.
Now I'm going to review Doom 3 BFG Edition for now on.

Doom 3: BFG Edition PS3 Review

Doom 3: BFG Edition is a updated version of original Doom 3 for PS3, X360 and PC.
This game came with HD graphics with 3D support which is a new thing for seventh generation consoles. It has a expansion pack level featured from resurrection of evil including lost levels which is cool to have a extra level and It has a 2 classics Doom games which I already have both for PC but it has a split screen muiltiplayer for console version.
Lets move on to Doom 3 storyplot. This story take place in planet mars, the main character Doomguy came to UAC's Mars Base to meet up with Master Sergeant orders him to find scientist from a Delta Lab who had gone missing. UAC's Mars Base was been attacked by demons from hell attempts to kill the scientist and marines. Doomguy sets his mission to defend himself in UAC's Mars Base to fight off the demons.
For the gameplay, the gameplay engine is quite different from the 2004 version which developed by Vicarious Visons while the BFG Edition is handled by Bethesda Softworks for PS3 and X360. The controls scheme is good for movements and combat system which is quite same thing as the 2004. The weapons is decent for shooting range, good targeting and quality weapons choices like pistols, shotgun, machine gun, chain gun, grenades, rocket launcher, plasma gun, chainsaw and one of the best weapons of all time is BFG 9000 (aka Big F-ing Gun 9000) shoots with green plasma bullet to melt 3 or 4 demons including big monsters. The levels has a good challenging with puzzle solving and boss fights. It does have a save features on pause menu which you don't have to start the level all over again, save features will let you save the game on the place where you at.
The graphics are ok'ay but pretty look dated, the lighting is lot higher compared to original Xbox version is look darker and better details. some textures and background are look cleaner and then the character design is lot same, it is nice with 3D glasses on with some better details is lot better than using the normal video settings. Graphics isn't important thing, it's all about the gameplay thats matters the most important things in gaming.
The music and sound has a great horror ambient music, good voice acting for characters and decent sound effects.
The special features is just what you need. It has a 3D glasses support and online muiltiplayer battle, expansion pack of Resurrection of evil including 8 lost levels and 2 classics Doom games what Id Software have offers to their fans to enjoy the game with extra features.

Advantages

Solid gameplay

Decent weapons

Great puzzle solving

Scary atmosphere

Badass demons characters (such as Imp, lost souls, Cacodemon, Arch-Vile, Hell-Knight, Revenant and Cyberdemons)

Disadvantages

Graphics in BFG Edition isn't good as the original xbox version.

Lacks of split screen muiltiplayer for Doom 3 except 2 classics have one.

Load times takes 35 seconds to load the game.

Final Verdict

Is it worth buying this or stick it to original version instead, lets see.

Gameplay 7.5/10 - Good controls scheme, decent combat system and good challenge of levels.

Graphics 6.8/10 - It's an okay graphics for normal video setting but look better on 3D counterpart. Too much lighting isn't dark enough, some cleaner textures and backgrounds and then the character models looked the same.

Music and Sounds 8/10 - Great horror ambient music, good voice acting and decent sound effects.

Special Features 8/10 - Expansion pack of Resurrection of evil with 8 lost levels, 3D glasses support, online battle and 2 classic Doom games is just what you all needed.

Overall 7.1/10 - It's a decent update game for PS3 and X360. If you're a PS3 and X360 gamers out there, then it's worth to buy it. If you already have a original version for Xbox and PC, then stick with them instead.

Binary Domain PS3 Review

Binary Domain is a third person shooter for PS3 and X360 created by SEGA.
If you like TPS games like Epic Games's Gears of war for X360, you might proberly like this kind of game.
This story take place in 2080. Bergen's headquarters been attacked by a hollow man with the pistol blaming on members of Bergen's that he didn't realized he is a robot. The UN Security Council believed that the Amada Corporation who created the human like robot known as the hollow child left behind the attack on U.S. The members of Rust Crew such as Dan Marshall and his teammates headed to Tokyo which IRTA ordered them to capture the Yoji Amada and bring him to UN Security Council.
I say the story is pretty sounds decent with some good storyplot and cutscenes. I say the characters concept is not that bad. Dan Marshall and the rest of the Rust Crew members are quite ok'ay and I like the concept of hollow child which is almost good as the skynet from Terminator series and Security robot is like from the movie I.Robot with similar design which SEGA wanted to make a Sci-Fi genres look good on this game.
It has a 6 chapters on Single Player campaign and Online mulitiplayer battle comes with versus mode and invasions mode.
The gameplay is just exactly plays like Gears of war. It has a good control system for character movements and cover positions. The combat weapons is good for shooting range and good targeting but you do get a good melee attacks when get closer to enemies. you may also upgrade weapons from the shop to improve the weapons performance. It has a voice command by talking though the microphone attached on headset to command your teammates what to do during the gameplay but there only one problem is you might accidently shoot at your teammate when they not getting out of your away when shooting the enemies which resulted drops down the teammate's trust level.
The graphics is good as well for animations effects, characters models, backgrounds and textures which makes it detailed look clean and smooth.
The music and sounds has a good soundtrack, great sound effect and decent voice acting between with english and japanese in some cutscenes.
The Special Features has chapter select when completing campaign and online battle but where the hell happened to co-op mode?.

Advantages

Good gameplay.

Decent graphics.

Great actions on cutscenes.

Good boss fights.

Interesting storyplot and characters.

Disadvantages

Friendly fire can damage to your teammate's health and drops down their trust level.

Lack of co-op mode.

Sometimes it's gets bit harder in some levels.

Final Verdict

Here is a bottom line of this game.

Gameplay 8/10 - Good controls and good combat weapons.

Graphics 7.5/10 - Decent animation, good character model and nice background and textures.

Music and sound 7.5/10 - Good music, good sound effect and decent voice acting.

Special Features 6/10 - Chapter select on campaign and online battle, thats the only have.

Overall 7.8/10 - Binary Domain is a good TPS game, it's enjoyable and some fun moments.
I recommend it for TPS fans to buy this game.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale PS3 Review

Many of gamers have played a crossover fighting games like Super Smash Bros series on Nintendo exclusive consoles which is one of my favourite fighting games of all time and people loves it. Then until the Sony have brought their own fighting game for PS3 and PSVita is Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is a another Smash Bros clone with characters from Sony franchises including guests from 3rd party franchises.
What this game could impress me with great features and concept that Sony have offers the fans to enjoy the crossover fighting games.
It was developed by SuperBot Entertainment and SCE Santa Monica Studio for PS3 version while Bluepoint Games developed for PSVita version.
This game has a 20 characters such as Kratos (God of war), Nathan Drake (Uncharted), Cole McGrath (Infamous), Sackboy (Little Big Planet), Nariko (Heavenly Sword), Dante (Devil May Cry), Raiden (Metal Gear), Heihachi Mishima (Tekken) and others which is quite cool to have a characters in this game.
It has 14 unique stages with combination of two game series. Single player mode has story, tutorial, practice and challenge. Muiltiplayer mode has 4 player offline and online battle requires network pass to play online.
It also has cross play which requires both PSVita version and PS3 version to play together in one game, thats pretty interesting to have player plays PSVita to challenge their friends on PS3 in both ways.
lets move on gameplay. The gameplay is similar to Smash Bros but in different kind of ways, you start off fighting opponents to increase your power meter which requires each levels that you can finish them off by using special moves once your power meter is ready to use it when reaching level 1,2 and 3. unlike Smash Bros where you can get points by kicking opponent off the screen, in this game, you can get points each by finishing them with special moves. you may also pick ups the items to attack your opponents to damage them and some stages might attack players when it comes with hazards like traps and stuff that could attacks the player. The controls are pretty good for basic players which is good for like combo moves, characters abilities and balanced controls schemes  is easier to use.
The graphics is decent enough for characters, backgrounds, visuals effects and some good animation models.
The music and sounds are sounds ok'ay, there some of great music from Sony franchise that I like such as Killzone, God of war and Uncharted are awesome on the stages but I say theres a one music that did'nt fit on this game such as Finale made by Madeon which shouldn't be on during cinematic opening. The sound effect sounds little bit sounds cheap but it has a great voice work for characters and announcer.
The Special features has cross-buy which you can download PSVita version from PSN store by using disc benefit on PS3 menu. There's trophy support features in this game and there's plenty unlockable stuff like icons, costumes, taunts and intros to unlock. I've heard the rumors from game developers that they can able to bring 2 downloadable characters such as Kat (Gravity Rush) and Emmett Graves (Starhawk) will be playable on this game, ok'ay thats cool.

Advantages

Solid gameplay.

Decent graphics.

Great stage levels.

Fun mulitiplayer.

Great story mode.

Disadvantages

Sound effects sounds little cheap.

Madeon - Finale shouldn't be on this game.

You won't able to download PSVita version when you brought the pre-owned from shop due to owner who already have this game in brand new condition.

Network pass is requires to play online battle.

Final Verdict

Will this game pleased Sony fans there?

Here is my final opinion.

Gameplay 8/10 - Solid gameplay comes with good controls for combos and character abilities.

Graphics 7.5/10 - Good character design, nice backgrounds, great visuals and some good animation makes a decent looking game.

Music and Sound 6.5/10 - Some good music on stages except one music on cinematic opening, cheap sound effects and great voice work.

Special Features 8/10 - Some unlockables stuff, cross buy to download free PSVita version and trophy support.

Overall 8/10 - Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale is a good fighting game but Nintendo did better for Smash Bros. So if you familiar with fighting game clones, then I suggest you to buy this game.
