Top 5 Super Nintendo Games

Super Nintendo is one of my favourite game console in my childhood days. This console was released in Japan on 1990 while the US and UK was released later on between 1991 and 1992. It is the successor of Nintendo's best selling console in 80's called Nintendo Entertainment System that has revolutionised the gaming in 8-bit era. Super Nintendo was classified as the most powerful 16-bit consoles was capable of using the 16-bit advanced graphics and impressive sound capabilities. It is known for having the most memorable games titles that Super Nintendo has to offer such as Super Mario World, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country, Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Megaman X, Super Castlevania 4 and many more classic games that defines 16-bit gaming. Super Nintendo was a worldwide successful becoming the best-selling console of the 16-bit era which they have beaten their competitors SEGA's 16-bit consoles called SEGA Genesis/Megadrive during the 16-bit console wars.

I decided to pick 5 of my best SNES games that I really enjoyed playing these games, so this part of my opinions and please enjoy my top 5 Super Nintendo Games.

5 - Starfox

Starfox (A.K.A Starwing in UK) is an awesome rail-shooter games that made the series becoming one of the Nintendo's flagship franchises.

It is the first SNES rail-shooter games was made by the developers Argonaut Software who helps designing the enhancement chip called Super FX which allowing the 3D polygon graphics pushes the hardware system with impressive graphical environments and some layout objects to show how SNES was capable of running the 3D games.

This game features excellent characters (except the dumbass slippy toad ), cool looking arwing, awesome variety of levels, great boss battles, kickass soundtrack and it has well played gameplay with brilliant controls, good power-ups and of course I love the barrel roll part as well that made the game look awesome on SNES.

4 - Super Mario Kart

Super Mario Kart is definitely one of the best go-kart racing games for SNES. Nintendo was credited for creating the kart racing genre which really inspires other developer team (such as SEGA, Rareware and others.) to make their own Mario Kart clone games like Diddy Kong Racing, Crash Team Racing, Modnation Racing, and Sonic and SEGA All-Stars Racing.

It's fun to see racing drivers beating the crap out of each other with insane items and avoiding the hazards in the track levels that made the game so memorable in the 90's.
Super Mario Kart has 8 playable characters, 20 wacky track levels, 2 single player modes and 3 two-player modes. What really made Super Mario Kart so good is the grand prix mode where you have to beat players to the final race to becoming No.1 racing champion and you can also challenge your friends on 2-player mode such as balloon mode where you have to beat the crap out of your opponent with crazy items till the 3 balloons pops out, so this mode is definitely my favourite part in the game.

3 - Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

As sequel to Rareware's classics Donkey Kong Country has received acclaim from VG Critics and was become one of the second best-selling SNES game of all time. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is another great 2D platformer game for SNES which you get to play as two of the characters Diddy kong and Dixie Kong.

DKC series was known for using SGI technology featuring pre-rendered 3D graphics with realistic sprites and impressive animations that shows how much the powerful SNES hardware could handle the graphics overall that puts the SEGA CD & 32X into shame.

This game features 8 worlds with 47 epic levels, realistic soundtrack by David Wise, cool boss fights, bonus secrets, playable animals buddies and it has very variety of gameplay that made the game enjoyable, so this got to be one of my favourite 2D platform game for SNES. This will be recommended for those who are experienced with challenges and finding secrets is must play this game.

2 - Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

I like playing the types of RPG games like Legend of Zelda is one of the Nintendo's best adventures game series in history. It has fantastic characters like Link is the coolest video game protagonist and Zelda is definitely better Nintendo princesses in gaming. I really love the game's presentation that took place in Hyrule, saving the princess, and defeating Ganon to save Hyrule that made the series so interesting to play.

My favourite Zelda games goes to A Link to the Past because it has better storyplot where Link travels his journey to save Hyrule, defeat Ganon, going different location between two parallel worlds, and saving maidens related to sages. The gameplay is easy because it is top-down perspective where you can explore the worlds in the whole game especially using maps and the combat is pretty simple to use especially when collecting new weapons and items that gives a players ability to use magic and other types of weapons like arrow and boomerang. It has one of the best boss fights in Zelda series that gives players a higher challenge in gameplay overall.

This game has amazing music by Koji Kondo did a fantastic job composing the soundtrack that fits the game atmospheres and it has very colourful details on graphics to make the level look suitable for game itself, so this is definitely must play for RPG fans out there.

1 - Super Metroid

Nintendo made one of the best SNES game ever made in 16-bit era. It was so popular among players for gameplay and design that inspired other games like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Shadow Complex, and Axiom Verge which they are classified as Metroidvania genre.

Super Metroid is a 2D Action-Adventure game which you're playing as the badass female protagonist Samus Aran, a bounty hunter who searching to look for the creature called Metrold Larva which been stolen by Space Pirates leader Ridley, so as she's follows him to Planet Zebes to retrieve a stolen Larva.

This game has amazing level design with larger depths of 2D side-scroller world to explore, it has unique gameplay with decent controls, awesome power-ups, great power suit and useful capacity items to collect, finding secrets passage, and it has the most intense boss levels of all time that made the game kickass. The soundtrack has atmospheric feels to the levels and the sound effects is very realistic for the SNES titles.

Super Metroid is definitely one of my favourite SNES game of all time.
